Equipment

  • Ninja Creami (for processing the sorbet mixture)
  • Blender or Food Processor: (to puree the mangoes)
  • Measuring cups and spoons (for accurate ingredient measurement)
  • Knife and Cutting Board: (to peel, pit, and chop the mangoes)
  • Ninja Creami pint container (for freezing the sorbet mixture)
  • Spatula: (for scraping down the sides of the blender)

Ingredients

  • 3 large ripe mangoes (peeled, pitted, and chopped)
  • 1/2 cup sugar (adjust based on mango sweetness)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice (optional, for extra freshness)
  • Pinch of salt (to enhance the flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup (for added sweetness)

Instructions

  • 1. Prepare the Mangoes:
  • Start by peeling, pitting, and chopping the mangoes into small chunks. Make sure to use ripe mangoes for the best flavor and sweetness.
  • 2. Blend the Ingredients:
  • In a blender or food processor, combine the chopped mangoes, sugar, water, lime juice (optional), and a pinch of salt. Blend until smooth and creamy. Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness by adding honey or agave syrup if desired.
  • 3. Transfer to Ninja Creami Pint Container:
  • Pour the blended mango mixture into the Ninja Creami pint container. Make sure the mixture is evenly distributed and leveled.
  • 4. Freeze the Mixture:
  • Place the container in the freezer and let it freeze for at least 24 hours. This step is crucial for achieving the perfect texture when using the Ninja Creami.
  • 5. Process in Ninja Creami:
  • After 24 hours, remove the frozen mixture from the freezer and place it into the Ninja Creami machine. Use the "Sorbet" setting on the Ninja Creami and let the machine process the mixture until it achieves a smooth, creamy texture.
  • 6. Reprocess if Necessary:
  • If the sorbet isn't as smooth as you’d like, reprocess it by running the Ninja Creami again on the "Sorbet" or "Re-spin" setting until the desired consistency is reached.
  • 7. Serve:
  • Once the sorbet is smooth and creamy, scoop it into bowls or cones and serve immediately. You can also add toppings such as coconut flakes, lime zest, or fresh fruit for extra flavor and texture.
  • 8. Store:
  • If you have leftovers, cover the container and return it to the freezer. You can re-spin it in the Ninja Creami to refresh the texture before serving again.

Notes

  • Choosing Mangoes: Use ripe, sweet mangoes for the best flavor. The ripeness of the mango will determine how sweet your sorbet is, so adjust the sugar according to taste.
  • Optional Sweeteners: If your mangoes are naturally very sweet, you may reduce or omit the sugar. For those who prefer a natural alternative, honey or agave syrup can be used in place of sugar. Adjust the sweetness based on preference.
  • Adding Lime Juice: A splash of lime juice is optional but recommended to add a bright, zesty contrast to the sweetness of the mango. It enhances the tropical flavor of the sorbet.
  • Texture Adjustment: If the sorbet is too icy after the first spin in the Ninja Creami, use the "Re-spin" option to achieve a smoother, creamier texture.
  • Storage: The sorbet can be stored in the freezer for several days. If it becomes too hard, simply re-spin it in the Ninja Creami before serving.
  • Customization: Feel free to experiment with mix-ins like shredded coconut, fresh berries, or a sprinkle of chili powder for a unique twist on the classic mango sorbet.
This recipe is versatile and can be easily tailored to your taste preferences while still delivering a refreshing, tropical treat!
